Myofascial Release

What is it and how will it make me feel?

Myofascial release has been my most popular treatment for people looking for a better result than other modalities have given them.It refers to a series of techniques designed to release areas of fascial restriction. The techniques work by releasing adhesions  throughout the whole body giving relief to many aches and pains in one treatment .It brings about permanent change in the tissues so that the results will last longer than conventional massage treatments. Postural changes can occur so that symptoms do not keep re-occurring. I found it to be the missing link for many, the results are often speedy and bring great relief from pain being experienced.

My clients look noticeably as if a weight has been lifted. A softening occurs in the areas of tension that permeates the whole body and mind. The slowness of the techniques allows your mind to truly let go and experience a deep level of peace similar to the feeling you have just before falling asleep.

 What is a treatment like?

Treatment approaches vary according to the condition you present with. Mostly you will be lying down on my heated couch covered with a cotton sheet  blanket.  I'l use a variety of different techniques by applying gentle traction to a large area of the body eg back, hamstrings, arms or leg. If youve ever had cranial sacrul treatments, some elements feel quite similar.

Once a release is felt I will follow the fascial restrictions as they start to ease.  Communication is important to ensure you are comfortable with any sensations or emotions that arise throughout the treatment.

Sensations from tingling, tightness, heat, cold and sometimes emotions or old memories can occur. I am trained to  guide you safely through anything that may occur so that you feel secure at all times. A sense of intense relaxation and an improved sense of freedom, energy and ease within the body are some of the sensations reported by clients.

Myofascial Release is particularly good for painful conditions that need a more gentle approach.

How many treatments will I need?

This very much depends on your medical history but usually around 6 hours or less can bring a reduction in pain and ease of symptoms. A regular monthly treatment is what most of my clients find keeps symptoms at bay.

What do Myofascial restrictions feel like?

They can feel like a dull, deep ache within muscles or more sharp and stabbing. There can also be a sense of heaviness like an armour in some cases.

Is it suitable for me?

We can discuss this together but usually it is suitable for most people.

Please feel free to call me to discuss further this fascinating treatment if you'd like to know more.
